Titanium Dioxide Sifter

Titanium dioxide powder is fine, light and easy to handle, but that does not mean every batch is ready for the next process. During storage, conveying or feeding, some powder may form small lumps or pick up larger particles that need to be removed.

A titanium dioxide sifter provides a straightforward way to check the powder before packaging, blending or another production step. The screen separates the finer material from larger particles while keeping the process enclosed and easy to integrate into an existing powder line.

For TiO2 powder, the right screen is important. The mesh size, machine diameter and screening method should be selected according to the material and the result you need.

Screening TiO2 Powder Before the Next Process

In many powder lines, screening is not about making a large change to the material. It is simply a final check.

For example, you may want to remove:

  • Small lumps formed during storage
  • Oversized particles
  • Foreign particles
  • Material that does not pass the required screen
  • Coarse powder before packing or blending

A rotary vibrating screen is often suitable for this type of work. The powder moves across the screen surface as the machine vibrates. Fine material passes through the mesh, while the larger fraction moves toward the discharge outlet.

The actual separation depends on the TiO2 material and the screen opening. There is no single mesh size that works for every titanium dioxide application.

A Practical Sifter for Titanium Dioxide Powder

Our rotary vibrating screen uses a vertical vibration motor to create three-dimensional movement of the screening deck. This allows the powder to spread across the mesh instead of staying in one place.

For a simple check-screening application, one screen deck may be enough. If you need more than one size fraction, we can build the machine with multiple decks and separate discharge outlets.

The equipment can also be connected to upstream and downstream powder equipment. Feed inlets, discharge outlets and machine dimensions can be adjusted to suit the production line.

Fine TiO2 Powder and Fine Mesh Screening

Fine powder needs more attention when choosing a screen.

As the mesh becomes finer, powder movement across the screen becomes more difficult. Fine particles may also build up on the mesh, especially when the material has a tendency to agglomerate.

For this type of application, an ultrasonic screening system is available.

The ultrasonic system applies high-frequency vibration to the screen mesh while the main machine continues to move the material. This can be useful when a fine mesh is required and ordinary screening is not giving stable results.

Whether you need ultrasonic screening depends on the actual TiO2 powder, mesh size and production rate. We recommend checking the material before finalizing the machine configuration.

Titanium Dioxide Sifter Construction

The parts in contact with the powder can be manufactured from stainless steel according to the application.

Common options include:

  • 304 stainless steel
  • 316 stainless steel
  • Customized screen mesh
  • Single or multiple screening decks
  • Customized feed inlet
  • Customized discharge outlets
  • Enclosed screening chamber
  • Ultrasonic screening system
  • Different machine diameters

For applications where cleaning is important, the screening chamber can be designed with accessible components for inspection and screen replacement.

If you have a specific surface finish or material requirement, please include it in your inquiry.

Choosing the Right Screen Mesh

Mesh selection should not be based on the name of the material alone.

For titanium dioxide, we normally need to know what you want the screen to remove and what material needs to pass through it.

For example:

Removing larger lumps

A coarser screen may be sufficient when the purpose is simply to remove visible agglomerates.

Fine powder screening

A finer mesh may be required when the target is smaller particles. At this point, the powder characteristics and screening capacity become more important.

Particle-size separation

If you need two or more fractions rather than simple check screening, a multi-deck machine may be a better fit.

Send us your required particle size or an actual material sample, and we can recommend the screen configuration based on the application.

Where Is Titanium Dioxide Screening Used?

Titanium dioxide is used in a range of products, including paints, coatings, plastics and paper. Screening requirements therefore vary from one production line to another.

A TiO2 powder sifter may be installed for:

  • Pigment powder screening
  • Paint and coating production
  • Plastic and masterbatch processing
  • Powder blending
  • Final screening before packing
  • Removal of powder lumps
  • Removal of oversized particles
  • Fine chemical powder processing

The screening machine does not have to be used as a standalone unit. It can also be designed as part of a complete powder handling system.

One Machine, Different Screening Requirements

Not every customer needs the same titanium dioxide screening machine.

A small production line may only need a compact single-deck sifter. A larger line may require a bigger screening area and continuous discharge.

The machine can be configured according to:

What Information Do We Need?

If you are looking for a titanium dioxide sifter, you do not need to know the exact machine model before contacting us.

A few basic details are enough for the first recommendation:

Material: Titanium dioxide / TiO2
Capacity: kg/h or t/h
Feed size: approximate particle size
Target: the particle size you want to remove or separate
Mesh: if you already have a required mesh
Number of fractions: one or several
Material requirement: 304, 316 or other
Installation: standalone machine or existing production line

If possible, a material sample is even better. Screening performance depends on the actual powder, so testing the material gives us a more useful basis for selecting the machine.

Titanium Dioxide Sifter FAQ

What type of machine is used for titanium dioxide powder?

A rotary vibrating screen is commonly suitable for fine powder screening and check screening. The machine can be configured with different mesh sizes and screening decks according to the TiO2 application.

Can the sifter remove titanium dioxide lumps?

Yes. If the lumps are larger than the selected screen opening, the screen can separate them from the finer powder.

Can you screen very fine TiO2 powder?

Yes. Fine powder can be screened with a suitable fine mesh. When mesh blockage becomes an issue, an ultrasonic screening system can be considered.

What mesh size should I use for titanium dioxide?

It depends on what you want to remove or separate. We do not recommend choosing a mesh size only from the material name. Feed size, target particle size, capacity and powder characteristics should all be considered.

Is 304 stainless steel available?

Yes. 304 stainless steel is available for powder-contact parts. 316 stainless steel can also be supplied when required by the application.

Can the TiO2 sifter be customized?

Yes. We can customize the screen mesh, number of decks, machine size, feed inlet, discharge outlets and other parts according to the production line.

Do you need a material sample?

A sample is not always necessary for a preliminary recommendation, but it is useful when the powder is very fine or the screening requirement is difficult. A sample allows us to check the actual screening behavior before finalizing the machine.
