Spice Sifting Machine

Spice powders do not always leave the grinding process in the same condition. Some batches are fine and free-flowing, while others contain small lumps, coarse particles or material that does not pass through the required mesh.
A spice sifting machine separates these particles by size before the powder moves to blending, filling or packaging. The machine can be configured for different spices, particle sizes and production capacities, so the screening setup does not have to be the same for every material.
For dry spice powders, a rotary vibrating sieve is commonly used for general screening. Finer powders or materials that tend to block the mesh can be handled with an ultrasonic screening system. Other machine designs can be selected when continuous enclosed powder handling is required.
Screening Spices and Seasoning Powders
Spice processing often involves more than one type of material. The powder may come directly from a grinder, or it may be part of a blended seasoning product.
Our screening equipment can be used for:
- Chili powder
- Black pepper powder
- White pepper powder
- Curry powder
- Turmeric powder
- Ginger powder
- Garlic powder
- Paprika powder
- Mixed seasoning powder
- Dried spice granules
- Other food-grade powdered seasonings
The purpose of screening can also vary. Some customers need to remove coarse particles after grinding, while others need to break up agglomerated powder or obtain a more consistent particle-size range before packaging.
Spice Powder Sifting Machine
A rotary vibrating screen uses vibration to move the spice across the screening surface. Fine particles pass through the selected mesh, while oversized material remains above the screen and is discharged separately.
For a basic screening application, one screening deck may be enough. If the material needs to be separated into several size ranges, additional decks can be installed with different mesh sizes.
The actual screen specification depends on the spice, feed size and required final particle size. For this reason, we normally recommend confirming the material and screening requirements before selecting the machine.
Ultrasonic Sifting for Fine Spice Powders
Fine spice powders can be more difficult to screen than coarse granules. When the powder tends to stay on the mesh or cause screen blockage, an ultrasonic system can be considered.
An ultrasonic vibrating sieve applies ultrasonic vibration to the screen mesh while the main machine keeps the material moving across the screening surface. This configuration is suitable for applications where a fine mesh and stable powder flow are important.
It can be used for fine chili powder, turmeric powder, pepper powder, seasoning powder and similar materials, depending on the actual material characteristics.
What Can a Spice Screening Machine Remove?
A sifting machine can separate particles that are outside the required size range. Depending on the production process, this may include:
Oversized particles
Coarse particles left after grinding can be separated from the finer spice powder.
Powder lumps
Moisture, storage conditions and handling can cause powder to form small agglomerates. Screening can separate these larger pieces from the usable powder.
Different particle sizes
Multiple screening decks can divide the material into different size fractions when particle classification is required.
Unwanted particles
The appropriate screen mesh can help separate foreign or oversized material, although the machine should not be treated as a substitute for dedicated metal detection or other inspection equipment.
Stainless Steel Spice Sifter
For food and seasoning applications, the material of construction is an important part of the machine configuration.
Product-contact parts can be manufactured from stainless steel such as 304 or 316L, depending on the customer’s processing requirements. The internal surfaces can also be finished according to the required cleaning and hygiene conditions.
For applications involving frequent cleaning, a suitable machine structure makes it easier to access the screen and internal components.
The inlet and outlet can also be customized to match the customer’s existing equipment.
Spice Sifter Machine Features
Flexible Screen Configuration
Different screen meshes can be installed according to the required particle size. Single-layer and multi-layer configurations are available.
Suitable for Powder and Granules
The same equipment platform can be configured for different spice powders and granular seasonings, subject to material testing and machine selection.
Stainless Steel Contact Parts
304 or 316L stainless steel can be used for product-contact components when required for food processing applications.
Easy Screen Replacement
The screening assembly is designed to allow the screen to be inspected, cleaned and replaced during routine maintenance.
Customized Feed and Discharge
The feed inlet and discharge outlets can be adapted to the customer’s production line, including different outlet positions and connection requirements.
Fine Powder Screening Options
Ultrasonic screening can be considered for fine powders where conventional screening may experience mesh blockage or reduced throughput.
Enclosed Powder Processing
An enclosed screening design can help contain powder during operation and make the machine easier to integrate into a closed processing line.
Spice Screening Machine Working Process
The screening process is straightforward:
Feeding → Material Distribution → Screening → Fine Material Discharge → Oversize Discharge
The spice powder enters the screening chamber through the feed inlet. Vibration spreads the material over the screen surface and keeps it moving.
Particles smaller than the mesh openings pass through the screen and leave through the corresponding outlet. Larger particles remain on the screen and move toward the oversize discharge.
When several screening decks are used, the machine can produce more than one particle-size fraction in a single operation.
How to Select a Spice Sifting Machine
There is no single screen specification that works for every spice. The following information is useful when selecting the equipment.
1. What spice are you screening?
Chili powder, pepper powder, turmeric and blended seasonings can have different flow characteristics. Tell us the actual material rather than only describing it as “spice powder.”
2. What is the feed particle size?
The approximate size of the incoming material helps determine the appropriate screen configuration.
3. What particle size do you need?
If you have a target mesh or particle size, provide it when requesting a quotation. If you are not sure, we can discuss the required screening result based on your process.
4. How much material needs to be processed?
Capacity is normally specified in kg/h or t/h. The required output helps determine the suitable machine diameter and screening area.
5. Does the powder tend to block the screen?
Fine, sticky or easily agglomerated powders may require a different screening arrangement. An ultrasonic system may be considered for certain fine-powder applications.
6. What happens before and after screening?
Knowing the complete process is useful when the sifter needs to connect with a grinder, mixer, conveyor, hopper, packing machine or other equipment.
Spice Sifting Machine for Production Lines
A spice sifter does not always have to operate as an independent machine.
For a complete seasoning processing line, the screening machine can be connected with feeding and conveying equipment. Depending on the plant layout, the system may include vacuum conveyor, screw conveyor, bucket elevator or other material-handling equipment.
For example:
Bag Feeding → Conveying → Spice Sifting → Blending → Packing
The exact arrangement depends on the customer’s production process, available space and required capacity.
Spice Sifting Machine Manufacturer
Henan Precision Screening Machinery manufactures screening and conveying equipment for powders, granules and other bulk materials.
